ABOUT US

We bring together personal experience + professional expertise to drive bold change.

We are rigorous in our evidence and deeply committed to the mission that brought us here.

The youth mental health crisis is urgent. The system built to respond to it - fragmented, reactive, and designed without young people at the table - is not working. My System of Care was created to solve that problem. Founded by clinicians, academics, advocates, and people with lived experience, we bring together the full picture of what youth and families face - and the expertise to build something better. We are a Public Benefit Corporation, which means we are structured as a for-profit entity that is legally required to consider our social mission in every decision we make.

OUR WHY

The vision, mission, and symbol behind everything we do.

OUR VISION

A world where every young person navigating a mental health crisis has a clear, community-powered path forward.

We envision a future where no young person faces the transition home without a plan, a team, and a community ready to receive them.

OUR MISSION

To empower youth and families by activating community-anchored systems of care.

Co-designed with the people at the center, grounded in evidence, and built to last beyond any single program or funding cycle.

WHY A BIRD?

A symbol of transition, return, and the courage to find your way forward.

Birds symbolize the journey from one place to another - transition, return, and the courage it takes to find your way forward. Our logo is a reminder that every young person has the capacity to take flight, and that no one should have to find their way forward alone.

WHO WE ARE

A community united by a shared belief that the system can - and must - do better.

We are a community of clinicians, academics, mental health advocates, caregivers, educators, researchers, and young people who co-design solutions together. Our model is rooted in four core beliefs:

  • IMPACT - We measure success one person at a time.

  • COMPASSION - Every young person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.

  • ACCESSIBILITY - Support should reach every young person, not just those with means.

  • AFFORDABILITY - Cost should never be a barrier to healing.

MEET THE TEAM

The people behind the work.

Psychologists, academics, advocates, clinicians, caregivers, and community builders - united by a shared belief that youth deserve better.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Youth ages 12–26 who experienced a mental health crisis and are preparing for discharge from a participating hospital or residential facility, may be eligible to participate. Our pilot is launching in central North Carolina, and we are building toward a national model with a vision to bring this program to communities across the country.

  • Connections happen through referrals at participating hospitals and residential facilities. If your child is currently in treatment at one of our partner facilities, their care team will connect you to the program.

  • Participation in the pilot is covered at no cost to families / caregivers. Affordability is a core commitment of our model - as we grow, we are dedicated to ensuring cost is never a barrier to access.

  • We are currently launching in central North Carolina. Please reach out if you would like to keep up to date on our progress and expansion, and/or to find out more about our participating facilities.

  • The healing journey begins before discharge and continues for 8–12 weeks after youth leave the hospital. A Hub Coordinator stays in contact with your family throughout that period.

  • Most discharge planning focuses on medication instructions and follow-up appointments. My System of Care goes further - co-designing a personalized healing journey with the youth at the center, connecting families to vetted community partners, and providing a dedicated coordinator who stays engaged for weeks after the transition home.

  • Yes. Our approach is adapted from Resource Groups, a patient-centered model shown in peer-reviewed research to significantly improve empowerment, quality of life, and personal recovery for people navigating mental health challenges.

  • We are actively building our network of hospital and residential facility partners. If you are interested in bringing a Hub to your facility, please contact us to learn more about future partnership opportunities.

  • There are two pathways: joining as a Preferred Community Network Partner - organizations with established programs serving youth - or as a Strategic Investment Collaborative member for funders committed to systems-level change. Reach out through our contact page to start a conversation.

  • Yes. The pilot is designed to generate rigorous outcomes data that will support regional and national scale-up. We are building a replicable model that can be adapted to communities across the country. Sign up to stay informed about expansion plans.

  • A Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) is a type of for-profit company that is legally required to consider the interests of society and the environment alongside the interests of shareholders. Unlike traditional corporations, a PBC's mission to create public benefit is built into its charter - not just its values. This structure allows us to pursue sustainable business practices while remaining accountable to the communities we serve.

We'd love to connect.
